Abel Salazar Building
A operação urbanística prevê colmatar o vazio urbano através da edificação de uma volumetria similar ao bloco habitacional contíguo, não descurando a relação com a habitação unifamiliar adjacente. A noção de integração e coerência do perfil urbano far-se-á sobretudo ao nível da concepção de vãos, varandas e afastamentos.
On the lot, which covers an area of approximately 1,316 m², a multi-family residential building will be constructed to honor one of São Mamede de Infesta’s greatest scientists, Abel Salazar (1889–1946), a physician and professor at the University of Porto’s School of Medicine.
The urban development project aims to fill the urban void by constructing a building with a volume similar to that of the adjacent residential block, while taking into account its relationship with the neighboring single-family home. The concept of integration and coherence within the urban landscape will be achieved primarily through the design of openings, balconies, and setbacks.
The proposal calls for a multifamily building with underground parking, a ground floor featuring a landscaped outdoor area for residents’ use, and five stories, with the top floor set back in the same manner as the top floor of the adjacent apartment building.
